TDS Reforged Tower Roles, Not Skin Names
Name the job each slot must do before you chase Enforcer, goldens, or the latest Engineer showcase.
Most failed Reforged boards are five carries and no job descriptions. This page is the missing primer on the Towers Hub. It does not invent DPS tables. It names roles you can verify in a Vince Games lobby after the 21 Aug 2026 universe bump (856K+ visits, place still titled TDS: Reforged (PVP Update)). Pair every paragraph with the Loadout Planner and the Overall Tier List. Roles shift after patches; Live Status tells you when to retest, not which skin won a thumbnail.
Early chip (survive 1–10)
Someone has to shoot the first bend while you still have starting cash. That is not Enforcer. Cheap, honest DPS belongs in slot one so you can bank for the mid spike. Getting Started and First Session assume this slot exists. If your first placement is a luxury carry, you will read Economy & Cash as a horror story.
Claim group +$100 so this role upgrades once before the first dense wave.
Economy / support
A farm, buffer, or income engine pays for the carry. In co-op, one player owns this role—see Co-op. In PVP, economy still exists but the curve is shorter; the PVP Tier List prefers tempo over a wave-40 bank. If the live patch deletes your farm, do not replace it with a second late DPS. Replace it with whatever the lobby still tags as income, then retest a standard map.
Control (slow, stun, path time)
Slowing Towers is the deep profile. The role is simple: make tanks stand in the carry beam. Hardcore and Death Invasion punish boards that skip this slot. After a patch, re-read slowing notes before you declare Enforcer “dead.”
Late carry
This is Enforcer, Card Dealer after its rework, or a golden hose such as Golden Minigunner. Place it when the economy can afford the spike, on a sightline that sees the critical path. Solo Hardcore shows the pacing; do not copy official TDS Accelerator essays.
Air, splash, or detection flex
Golden Ace Pilot is the airborne example creators call out. Golden Toxic Gunner is the Polluted / waste specialist. Flex is the slot you sell when the mode does not need it. Polluted Core, Casino, and Enraged each ask for a different flex. If you do not know the mode, keep flex cheap.
Showcase units and skins
Engineer Showcase documents real Reforged-only drops (verified YouTube on that page). A new skin does not automatically fill carry. Assign it to flex for one standard clear, then promote it only if the leak wave improved. Progression is the ladder; this page is the vocabulary.
Mode modifiers
- Standard maps — all five roles in miniature; practice sells from Controls.
- Hardcore — carry plus control matter more; see the Hardcore Tier List.
- PVP — shorten the bank; tempo chip beats a frozen late legend.
- Customs — author the roles into the ruleset via Custom Gamemode.
Tick the Wave Checklist with role names, not tower nicknames. “We have slow” is a better ready-up call than “we have the new skin.”

They usually intensify a role you already needed. They are not a fifth job.

Should every co-op player bring a carry?
No. Split economy, control, and carry. Duplicate late DPS starves the lane.
